Overview
Building on the success of the International School of Milan Summer Camp, the Easter Day Camp at St. Louis Archinto offers a focused opportunity to explore creativity through making, experimentation, and design thinking. Set in Milan, one of the world’s leading design capitals, this one-week day camp is designed for students interested in sustainable fashion and product design.
Students take part in Upcycling & Sustainable Fashion and Product Design: Make It Real, exploring the full creative process from initial idea to physical outcome. Through practical workshops, experimentation, and guided studio work, delivered by industry professionals and faculty from NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di Milano, students develop technical skills, creative confidence, and a deeper understanding of sustainability as a driver of innovation.
Beyond the classroom, the programme includes one curated excursion connected to Milan’s creative context. The camp concludes with a final exhibition, where students present their projects and creative journey to peers and families, celebrating experimentation, learning, and collaboration.
Course Options:
Upcycling & sustainable fashion
30 HOURS
Clothing tells stories.
This course introduces students to sustainable fashion and upcycling as tools for creative expression, transforming an existing garment from a curated vintage selection provided by the school into a unique, personal piece. The focus is not on perfection, but on intention, awareness, and storytelling through design.
Through a hands-on and experiential approach, students move from concept to creation via practical workshops, experimentation, and group sharing. They learn basic techniques such as stitching, embroidery, darning, and dyeing, developing a personal project suitable for portfolio use. The course concludes with a final exhibition, where students present their transformed garments and creative journey.
Product Design: Make It Real
30 HOURS
How does an idea become a physical object?
This course introduces students to the full product design process, from initial inspiration to the creation of a tangible prototype. Through a learning-by doing approach, students combine interactive lessons with hands-on laboratory work, exploring how ideas are researched, developed, and transformed into real objects.
Participants follow a structured design journey, from research and sketching to physical prototyping, working both individually and collaboratively. The course also introduces how designers use AI as a supportive tool within the creative process. By the end of the course, students will have designed a physical object, developed a portfolio-ready project, and presented their work in the final exhibition.
