IB Teachers

As IB educators, our school employs enthusiastic DP teachers who demonstrate an extensive understanding of IB teaching methods. Our team comprises native-speaking, experienced IB professionals who successfully deliver the programme with rigour.

The core members of our teaching staff have been at the school for over 10 years. At the Archinto Campus, around 15 of our 50 teachers are also IB examiners and familiar with the requirements outlined in the IB Diploma Programme assessment criteria.

IB Assessment

As with other educational programmes, the IB assessment criteria will likely vary according to the subject. Some subjects require a combination of formal examination and written coursework, while others may require students to demonstrate their practical skills, for example, in Drama and Dance. Across all subjects, work is assessed using the same IB grading system implemented across all IB World Schools.

Differences Between the IB and the National Curriculum

Our International Baccalaureate programme offers students a complete education system that provides in-depth knowledge, opportunities to apply that knowledge globally, and long-lasting study methods that will reinforce their understanding of how to evaluate and analyse information effectively. The Programme is a well-known international course that leads to pre-university qualifications.

On the other hand, the Italian National Curriculum offers young adults in Scuola secondaria di secondo grado an accredited further education system, which is generally conducted in Italian. The National Curriculum option is ideal for senior students who wish to gain a high-quality qualification and progress to universities in Italy or Europe.

IB Certification

After final IB assessments have been taken, candidates will receive a course certificate detailing the subjects taken and the scores gained in each. The IB certificate is one of the most versatile, as it allows graduates to broaden their prospects for future study. IB certification is accepted by top universities and institutions world-wide, making it an ideal international qualification for students at our school in Milan.

Francesco

"My name is Francesco and I graduated from St. Louis High School in 2018. After completing the IB Diploma I started a BSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Surrey, and am currently doing my MSc with specialisation in Mechatronic System Design at TU Delft, in the Netherlands.

I joined St. Louis school when I was 2 years old and left at the age of 18. The educational environment in High School was extremely stimulating, as academic staff prioritised the needs of the individual students and helped them in choosing an adequate study program that aimed at maximising personal and intellectual skill sets. I found such a challenging and stimulating environment essential in my preparation for University.

The multicultural environment at St. Louis also allowed for close, but professional, relationships between students and teachers, which also act as advisors for your future academic career. Not only, as I was also able to meet and connect with dedicated students from all over the world that I still know today."
